| The
female breasts are aesthetic curves which differentiate the female from
the male aspect. This is why having beautiful breasts of adequate size
and proportion and of pleasing form and consistency is very important to
women.
This beautiful feminine curve may be affected basically by three problems: Size
that is too small, size that is too large or a form that is unpleasing
(sagging). All three problems may be addressed correctly by qualified Plastic
Surgeons.
When
breasts are considered by the patient to be too small, they may be augmented
by using small incisions that are easily hidden. Breast implants of size
and form that pleases the patient are inserted. The immediate result is
excellent in the majority of cases.
The press has misinformed about a series of risks such as cancer and other illnesses. To this date, it has not been proven that these rumors are correct. Nevertheless, there are many options that a patient may consider with respect to the type, size and form of implant to be used. Together with her surgeon, patient may decide to accept placement of implants filled with saline solution or silicone gel. A qualified Plastic Surgeon knows perfectly well which implants may be used in a particular case. He is able to explain the indications, contraindications, risks and possible complications involved with each type of implant.
When the breasts are very large, it is possible to reduce their size. This deformity is not only unpleasing to the eye, it also causes skin problems, inadequate walking habits, back problems and wounds and furrows in the patients shoulders caused by the bra straps. There
are various techniques available to achieve acceptable results. Some of
these procedures provide scars that are almost imperceptible that may be
used in small reductions. For larger reductions, the resulting scar takes
the form of a circle around the areola and of an anchor beneath it. By
using these incisions, the excess tissue is removed, mainly composed of
fat and mammary gland.
Breast Lift This surgical technique is indicated to return a sagging breast to its normal placement in the thorax. In the breast lift or mastopexy, the incisions are similar to those of the reduction technique. The basic difference between the two is that in mastopexy, there is usually no tissue removed.
