Training and knowledge are acquired through a residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, recognized by the Mexican Board of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Due to the close relationship of Plastic Surgery with other cosmetic treatments that do not require specialized studies, patients must be very cautious when selecting the appropriate surgeon.

It is a minimum requirement that the specialist posses the title of Medical Surgeon, with postgraduate studies certified by the Board of Specialty, and that he or she posses a constant interest in continuing education and perfection of the specialty. The physician must also be ethical and professionally intact.
